Online Banking Security Features

2-Step Verification (2SV)

2-Step Verification (2SV) provides an extra layer of security for online banking, mobile banking, and MemberDirect Small Business users.
2SV replaces the use of static challenge questions and answers with dynamically generated one-time verification codes. Verification codes will be sent to you via text message (SMS) or email that you set up. This method of verification confirms your identity during high-risk logins, such as a login from a new device or location.

Self-Serve Reset PAC

Reset PAC allows personal members to reset their online banking passwords without contacting Northern Savings for assistance.
Self-Serve Reset PAC is a digital banking feature that allows you to reset your Online Banking Password whenever you need to. To use the feature, you need to enter the last three digits of your Social Insurance Number and you must be enrolled in 2-Step Verification.

New Online Security Features

We are excited to introduce new security features designed to enhance the safety and security of our members' online banking experience - available on December 3, 2024. Check out the new features below!
Members will now be required to authenticate some online banking transactions using our current 2SV system through online and mobile banking.
Device Binding allows members to exempt logins from authentication challenges if those logins are from a recognized device. This is done by selecting the bind-device check box found on the Enter your Certification Code screen, which is presented during 2SV enrollment or login authentications.
Good news! Members will be able to use Voice Calls as an option for 2SV authentication, in addtional to SMS and email.
